How the jeffing chuff do I get this curtain pole down?!?

I've attempted to attach a picture. The rod part goes into a finial that is solid with the bit that screws into the wall. The rod can be turned within the finials but it won't unscrew or compress or wiggle out. I can't surely have to unscrew the bits that fix to the wall - then somehow re-screw them while they're loaded with curtains?! The rod must come off somehow - but I can't find any catch or screw or anything!

Any suggestions?!

Does the rod come in 2 sections? Mine does with a tiny screw in it to keep it together. It’s a few inches past the centre

Mine have tiny tiny screws in the back that are inset so don't have a visible head, and take a tiny tiny Allen key. I had to stand on a chair with a torch to work it out the first time - slightly different design from that though.

Nope, not in two sections. I've scoured it end to end. I can't find any screws at the back either. There isn't really room on the knob part for any screws, as it's barely bigger than rod - and I don't think the rod would twist about if it was held by screws.

Driving me bonkers!

Mine has a tiny screw on top of each end piece/finial (you need to stand
on a chair to see them) and when these are unscrewed the curtain rod slips out of the pieces attached to the wall. I have never had to remove the parts on the wall.
