You can buy a spray to spray around the edge of the floor which kills them on contact and lasts for a while. Try amazon.

Traditionally it was always said they like damp conditions but we have them occasionally and I'm in a new build with underfloor heating so I think they tolerate most conditions. They are completely harmless though.

Timeforabiscuit · 23/12/2018 12:48

They're harmless, but like the damp - so frequent cleaning and drying out the area disturbs them.

TheQueef · 23/12/2018 12:49

Eurgh.
I hate the shivery bastards.
When I moved out of parents and into a council house they were spewing out of the kitchen draws like a horror film.
Burn it with fire. Angry

lynnepot · 23/12/2018 13:49

Flush them down the loo

bumblebee39 · 23/12/2018 14:43

So I'm going to bleach the floors and hope that helps minimise until I can get some spray or something to put down

Literally the grossest thing
I've seen them before but never had them (that I know of) but last time I "washed" the floor was with water and a towel not bleach and a mop so don't think that's helped
I have a feeling my love of floor wipes is over and am back to moving the furniture etc. To bleach and mop everything

My heads been so busy with other things I've let the house slip a bit
(As in hoovering but not mopping and things not outright anarchy)
I'm blaming myself for not being more on it but apparently they are really common and will eat almost anything?

Have you found them and killed them yet ?

Lattesforlife · 23/12/2018 14:52

I don’t know what these are..... do I want to google?!

bumblebee39 · 23/12/2018 14:55

The one I saw came out of a tiny crack in the skirting board. Don't know whether to fill it with something?

OP posts:
lynnepot · 23/12/2018 15:13

Suck it out with the Hoover

bumblebee39 · 24/12/2018 23:25

No sign since
Squirted some citrus bleach spray into the (tiny) hole in the skirting and bleached the floors twice

I don't think a germ could survive in there now let alone an insect

Burn your house down

bumblebee39 · 25/12/2018 00:13

It's weird it's otherwise bug free (except the rare house spider) so don't know where these blighters have come from

Amberheartkitty · 25/12/2018 00:16

I like them. They look like teeny tiny fish. With legs. That run really fast. My daughter tries to catch them to keep as a pet she’s not managed too yet.
We did have a lot but now I never see any.

Bumblebee39 · 21/01/2019 15:58

So, no sighting for a few weeks and now I've seen 2 in less than 24 hours Sad I don't want to go in the bathroom anymore they are giving me the horrors
