Our tap water was not at all clear at 4 this afternoon. beige water is not very appealling.

I phoned up welsh water who said there was a burst water main and that they were dealing with it. He said they were "flushing it through" and wouldnt leave the site until it was ok.

Its still yucky now
I dont suppose its ok to drink???

Oooooh elp

You could probably boil it if you were really stuck, but tbh if I was you I'd stick to wine!!!

If you're really worried, then boil it. But they wouldn't be letting it down the pipes if it's actually contaminated. There may be a bit of brown staining, but the chlorine kills off the bacteria. And I'm not sure about Wales, but in Scotland, peat can often turn the water brown even though it's been treated and everything.
(Dad was a water treatment engineer, so going on what he always said, not just rambling, honest).

Yurtgirl · 25/06/2007 21:47

Thats what I was thinking - that its probably just peat

DS however wont consider it till I can prove it is clear

Put some apple juice in with it?

WendyWeber · 25/06/2007 21:48

I don't suppose you're anywhere near a shop where you could buy some bottled water for DS until it clears?

WendyWeber · 25/06/2007 21:48

("Yurtgirl" sounds kind of remote )

EmilyDavidson · 25/06/2007 21:50

I wouldnt drink it. Have you got any cartons of juice to tide you over till tomorrow ?

Yurtgirl · 25/06/2007 21:51

Yes thankfully we have got some juice - tea was limited tonight as there is no way ds would touch any food cooked in water!!!

they could be letting it down the pipes with problems, it happened near me last week, traces of CS bug in the water so one town has been on boiled or bottled water for 10 days. was due to flooding. they should have let you know by now if there was a problem but maybe boil it for now just in case
