How do I get smoky smell out of furniture?

Bought a second hand bookcase on Gumtree - I like it but it's clearly not from a smoke free home!

Is there an easy or even difficult way of getting the smell out? it's not terrible but smells sort of fusty, I'm worried it may permeate the room. Any thoughts?

can you leave it sitting outside in a dry day? Maybe sand it down and reseal it?
Sorry, probably not helpful but you have my sympathy as my ds is a smoker and everything that comes from her house is absolutely stinking

Just polish it. Method stuff is nice

Clean it with sugar soap. Let it air well and only polish it when you're sure it's not smelling.

Polish alone won’t work, hopefully the sugar soap will
