Dishwasher cleaner

Hi. I have tried the Finish dishwasher cleaner and the bottle remained full as the glue seal did not break. I put on a second cycle after fiddling with the glue but still the same happened. I then made holes in the glue bit and quickly put the dishwasher on. Wasn't impressed at all. Can u recommend any other good dishwasher cleaners?

I use Sainsbury's own and I've never had that problem. It's much cheaper too!

GetSchwifty · 15/12/2018 18:20

I’ve used Lidl and Aldi’s own brand. Both did a good job.

dementedpixie · 15/12/2018 18:20

It's always worked for me. Did you put it on a hot enough wash cycle?

Ruky44 · 15/12/2018 18:22

My dishwasher does not have a temp button. It's just automatic and is set on one hot cycle. But it's always steaming.

Ruky44 · 15/12/2018 18:23

I have heard of crystyle. Will try this

I just pierce the glue end into one of the dishwasher plastic bits and keep it upside down and then turn the dishwasher on. Then I know the seal is broken.

Out of interest how often do people use a dishwasher cleaner?

mando12345 · 15/12/2018 18:29

I've had dishwashers for over 30 years and never used a dishwasher cleaner Shock.
Am I missing some thing? Blush

Ruky44 · 15/12/2018 19:38

I've just seen posts saying people use the cleaners once a month.

I've seen some cleaners which are tablets. Has anyone ever tried them?

Scienceforthewin · 15/12/2018 19:51

I do mine monthly. I prefer the liquid but the tablets are ok. Never had my liquid fail to dispense, but I do have a special cleaning cycle

PipsM · 15/12/2018 19:53

We use white vinegar and a cut lemon. Works brilliantly and loads cheaper than cleaners.

MrsJayy · 15/12/2018 20:44

I do mine when the filter is a bit slimey so maybe every 6 weeks. Fairy also do a 2 pack of cleaning capsules i get them if they are on offer.

Ruky44 · 16/12/2018 07:38

Thank u all for your replies. Will try the fairy capsules.

I never use dishwasher cleaners. I just handwash the filter every few months, and the sprayer arms maybe once a year.
