Our Miele which is about 15 years old is about to die. We've replaced the hose and it's not a fraction of its former self, so we will replace it in January when hopefully we can get a sale bargain.

Looking for recommendations. I've heard about Sharks but don't know if they are any good. Not a fan of Dyson. Open to suggestions. We have no pets, but need a hoover that can manage hard floors and carpets and ideally don't want to spend more than £250.

Henry. Fabulous machine and reasonably priced compared to Sharks, Dysons etc.

I've just replaced my old Dyson with a Shark (this one www.amazon.co.uk/Shark-Corded-Cleaner-HV390UK-Lightweight/dp/B00HBZH8ZC/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&keywords=shark+hv390ukt)&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1544438521&sr=1-2

Only had it a week but I love it so far. It's much lighter than the Dyson, does a good job on both carpeted and hard floors, and I'm a huge fan of its flexibility when it comes to cleaning under furniture and the stairs. I'm also glad to have a rigid section of tube which allows me to de-cobweb 10ft high celings.

I have recently bought the Shark powered liftaway duo clean cordless and it is fantastic!

Unfortunately this would be over your budget but as your Miele is corded
and if you don't mind another corded machine, I would strongly recommend the Shark powered liftaway corded model as that should be comfortably under budget and is a terrific machine for all floor types. 5 year guarantee too!😁
