Help!! Toilet & shorts!

A while ago our loo started to become intermittently blocked. Tonight ds2 said ds3 had flushed s pair of pyjama shorts down. Not sure if this is true or not! We cant get our hands in, the angle is too steep. The blockage seems to be close to the loo, not further in the pipes. HOW can I deal with this? Toilet is clear now but will block again. Is it a job for a plumber of is there a magic tool to check if the pipes are clear and retrieve the phantom shorts which may or may not even be there. Coulf it just be thw loo roll? We started using 'who gibes a crap' bamboo a while ago- although we dont have issues with the other loos.

A few years ago I was mugged on my way home from work. Mugger stole my phone and ran in to a pub. Pub recognised him as a drug taker and called the police who got there quick. He locked himself in the cubicle but the hauled him out. He had his hand round the u-bend of the toilet.

This does become relevant!

Same police put him in the car then drove round the corner to me to take my statement. I saw him in the back of the car and thanked them catching him. They did not know the 2 incidents were linked. He didn't have my phone on him when searched so the police believed he had pushed the phone round the u-bend.

3 different plumbers tried to retrieve the phone, as it would have been very clear cut evidence to prosecute with. No one could get the phone and the only advice was to crack the u-bend. The police would not pay for a new toilet and the pub said no.

So my ID of him was compromised because they allowed me to see him in the back of the car. I fought him off and managed to get his blood on my clothes, but the sample was mishandled by the police. The CCTV showing the entire attack and the guy running in to the pub wasn't collected in time and was wiped. And the phone couldn't be retrieved. The guy walked. I'm still bitter 18 yrs on.

There is no way to get those shorts I don't think. Unless some snazzy bendy claw gadget has been invented. Sorry.

Shit! Just googled 'bendy claw gadget' and it exists!!! Should have done that in the first place really!!

The link pasted as half a mile long. Go to eBay. It's called Claw pick up tool.

Oooh that looks perfect. I odered a drain snake yesterday but your claw thing looks more manageable. I will update when they arrive. To pp, re missing shorts, we have two pairs of barcelona pyjamas the same in different sizes. I havent actually checked if one pair of shorts is missing but I couldnt 100% say they didnt go in the last charity bag. Ds2 is very honest and trustworthy usually but he does like to get ds3 in trouble sometimes. Will update and if said shorts make an appearance, dont worry I will not post a picture. No doubt it wont be pretty.

How old is your house? Ours is an edwardian terrace and so has our soil drain cover in our back garden. I once accidentally flushed a washable nappy down the toilet - my dad suggested flushing whilst pouring as much water as possible down from a great height (I used the nappy bucket...). The pressure of the water pushed the nappy out of the pipe it was stuck in and into the drain where dp could retrieve it (boak).

I didn't want a blocked toilet or a lost nappy, so win-win!

I will try the bucket idea. We live in a new build but have drain covers in the garden. Will give it a go.
