How many books do your children really read?

We are short on space and I'm trying to clear out. My kids (2 and 4) seem to have hundreds and hundreds of books everywhere. I like them to have plenty to choose from but our current volume needs a cull. Do you have a maximum book limit?

We have as many as fits in the books shelf. When it is full I cull.

Same as above. I allow as many books as will fit on her 3 shelf book shelf. She's only 2 so it's not full yet- only 2 shelfs full but she's been read all of them and likes to look at them all. Probably will have a cull of the ones she's outgrown though sometime after Christmas.

Is that one shelf? I thinks it's good to have a clear limit like that. What do you do with the culled ones? Is it possible to sell them second hand anywhere or just charity shop them?

I reckon about a shelf's worth is right - although my kids both have an entire bookcase each!

Mine are 5 and 3 and have a bookcase (3 shelves) each. I cull when they have more than fits on their bookcase.
My 5 year old mainly reads chapter books now so we pass down the rest to DD2, anything ripped/too young for DD2 gets culled from her bookcase.

My house is full of books. I don’t limit books at all. So there’s a case on the landings two in the living room, three in the boys’ room, four in my eldest’s room, piles of them scattered everywhere too. I took 24 out of the middle child’s bed the other day!:o

Mmmm, books! :o

We have a largish, 3-shelf IKEA billy for their shared room: once that's full, we cull and charity shop. Mine are 8 and 11 now, so I have to give them some say in what is kept / chucked. I've accepted that neither of them are bookworms like I was, it's a different world now. So we don't need a ton of books everywhere.

Loads
When we moved we left about 50 outside and people took them

Mine are not limited at all in books and have a full bookcase each and some books on the other bookshelves around the house. They are reading "proper" books now though, when it was toddler and early years books I limited it because they are all different sizes and always look messy on shelves as a result. Once they are reading real books they are easier to store
