Shower doors..........getting/keeping clean...aaaaagh!!

Yes I know there are bigger things in the world to worry about, but.........I have shower doors that just will not clean up!! I use EVERY cleaner on them, but they obstinately come back with streaky bits that lets the whole room down...and to make it worse, the room is west facing, so the sun shines directly onto them for half a day....to reveal ALL imperfections!!

Any hope/advice?????? please????

Clean them with watered down vinegar to get rid of the streaks and then after that don't use any cleaner on them. What you need is a shower door cleaner (a bit like window cleaners use). You can buy them in the kitchen bit of M&S for about £3 and they are fnatastic. Every time someone has a shower they must wipe the door down before they get out (takes a few seconds) and the shower will look great.

We have very hard water and shower doors always looked awful until I used lemons. Cut a lemon in half, rub all over glass, leave for a bit whilst clean other things, go on MN or whatever, rinse off and buff to a shine. Magic! Smells lovely too.

Lakeland has a product that you spray on the shower door (and the tiles etc) after you shower, and it's supposed to prevent the scummy marks. But you have to use it on a door that's clean in the first place. They also have a shower-door cleaner (LOL)!

Lakeland products are usually pretty good.

Which really rate the Ecover limescale remover.

The only thing I've found that works is bleach and a toothbrush.

You can imagine how long it takes to do!

But I have seen an advert this week for a cleaner thing by Duck. It looks a bit like a brillo pad but its to clean off shower doors.
I'm going to give them a go.

I'd like to replace my shower doors with opaque/misted looking ones... They would look fab all the time.

I live in a hard water area and given up wasting my time scrubbing at bloody limescale.

Agree with Tooty Fruity. There's no need to use any nasty chemicals. I got a Shower Squeegee from www.pure-spa.co.uk/.

I use it EVERY time anyone has a shower - takes less than 10 seconds while standing in the shower - the glass ALWAYS looks sparkling not only when it's just been cleaned.

I also live in a really hard water area and once I've cleaned mine with either M&S 100% Natural Bathroom Cleanser (sounds posh is actually the same price as Ecover) and then squeegied it, i spray Method Daily Shower Spray on it after my shower and it keeps it from getting all crusty again for almost a week.

BTW Method is pretty eco-sound too....

Natural Clean lime scale remover is amazing. You can buy it on line it is about £5 but a little goes along way so it is actually very economical.Doesn't smell like the ecover one and works really quickly. Can't do links but the web address is: www.naturalclean.co.uk

Once you have the lime scale removed just spray your shower door with white vinegar every few days. You can buy white vinegar in a spray bottle (Dripak produce them). You can also get a window squeegy and ask the last person to use the shower in the morning to squeegy the water off.

Add vinegar as others have said and then use newspaper to dry them off - it does really work...

Yes, TootyFrooty hit the nail on the head with the window cleaner implement: the handle, the scraper, etc.

If you've got people in your family who will forget to do it at the time, you only need to spray some glass cleaner (or equivalent) on the glass, and run the window cleaner down in big sweeps.
