Currently have a Sebo upright. It's ok but heavy to move up and down stairs. It's not great at reaching the edges of the rooms and the handtools are pretty rubbish for corners etc.

We've recently had new flooring downstairs (amtico) so would like something that also suits hard flooring but is light to use- daily- to pick up grit etc walked in.

I like the brush effect of sebo- we have carpets in all other rooms- but considering something like a cordless Dyson, or Gtec.

Recommendations please!

Shark!!!

I’ve got 2 dysons and hate them

Shark have fantastic reviews over and over. Plus I have friends who rave about the pet hair and lift one.

Thank you!

I want some light that can be carried up the stairs and also does a good job with dust.

John Lewis don't stock them; is this a good or bad sign :)

It weighs 6.1kgs- that's pretty heavy.

I have a dyson animal v8. I do love it because it is soooooooo much easier than lifting / dragging a henry around, but whilst it's amazing on carpets it's not amazing on hard floors. I mean it does the job but it only seems to suck on the pull, so if you push you can find your just pushing the same bits of grit around. This could be because it's the animal version so specifically for carpets and upholstery, i'm not sure. Pros are it's very lightweight, so easy to empty and hangs on the wall in the cupboard.

I'd probably research the shark as I've heard rave reviews about them. The Organised Mum does a review and comparison of Shark V Dyson so that might be helpful, whatever you do though I'd go cordless it's a total gamechanger!

I'm interested in this too. Am in the market for a new vacuum cleaner that ticks the following boxes:

Not Dyson
Not upright
Preferably have a long wire
Preferably have long rigid section on the hose (I'm tall and if that bit is short, I have to bend uncomfortably)
Something that does hard surfaces and carpet
I guess it should also clean

Will have a look at shark but other recommendations would be great. Thank you!
