Gah! Biro stain on jeans: please help!

DH sat with a biro pen in his jeans back pocket. The pen broke and the ink stained his jeans. Duh!
It's not washable ink. We've tried an ordinary (water) wash.
I tried "White Wonder" laundry cleaner from Lakeland and it's still not out.
Any suggestions? I know we can beat this stain! :-)

I got biro on an expensive coat that I couldn't wash. Hairspray got it out.
Get cheap hairspray, put kitchen paper on the underside, spray close to fabric and keep spraying. The propellant in the spray removes the stain. You'll probably use most of the can.

:-O who knew?! Thanks Hedwig! I'll add hairspray to my shopping list.

Mr Muscle Shout stain remover

Get it from Home Bargains or Wilko. It's a spray bottle. Spray it on the stain, leave five mins then put into the wash as normal. It is an absolute Godsend! I had biro stain on my pink jumpsuit and I tried vanish which didn't work then I tried shout and it revived it!

OK, here's an update...
I was going to try the hairspray until I looked at the stain and realised that it went through 3 layers of denim and the epicentre was inside the back pocket and in the seams.
I found Dr Beckmans stain devil for pen & ink at the supermarket. I bought some cheap cleaning cloths and I have some old airplane toothbrushes for fiddly cleaning. I stuffed the pocket and inside the leg with the cloths and massaged the stain devil in with the toothbrush. It was oily and syrupy, defo a rubber gloves job.
Since the stain had defeated "white wonder" and been washed in several times I left the solution on a lot longer than recommended and kept adding to it and brushing it in. The toothbrush fibres turned bright blue and I kept turning the cloths around as they absorbed the ink. So much ink. So very much ink! Then washed it out in the machine when I ran out of patience!
But it did the job. Phew!
Thanks for the rec's. All added to the mental notebook.
