How can I clean up the top of my log burner. We got it with the house and the top of it is covered In marks I would like it to look clean and shiny if possible. I thought about black shoe polish but if anyone has some good ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks.

I lightly clean mine with WD40 sprayed onto a cloth then wiped.
Not when the fire is lit!!

Mine came with a spray paint, so I'd advise a heat resistant spray paint in the right colour, ie matt black.

You can buy black stove and grate polish in a tube from hardware stores. About £4.99 Just apply with a brush/cloth, rub in and buff to a shine. It will make a big difference. It is super easy but messy, so wear rubber gloves and have plenty of disposable cloths (such as J cloths). You will need to throw away the cloths and gloves afterwards.
