'Fitted' bottom sheets?

Hi
Hoping one of you lovelies can help me. I'm after some flat sheets that are elasticated at the bottom corners so the sheet doesn't come up or get tangled around feet. I've done a search online but must be using the wrong term because all I'm getting is the kind of fitted sheets you lie on in bed. I know the kind I'm after exist as I've seen them in the past but no idea what to search for so if someone could help I'd really appreciate it. Even better, if someone has a link or knows where I might find them, that would be wonderful. Ta.

Fitted bottom sheets are elasticated in all four corners. There aren't any other sort.

MrsArthurShappey · 22/11/2018 23:44

But a fitted sheet is a bottom sheet. Do you mean a sheet that’s goes between you and the duvet? That’s a top sheet I think. Why not just get a flat sheet and firmly tuck the end in?

ApolloandDaphne · 22/11/2018 23:44

What other sort of sheets are there other than ones you lie on in bed?

PickAChew · 22/11/2018 23:45

I don't think that whT you're looking for exists, unless it's made bespoke.

kaldefotter · 22/11/2018 23:45

Semi-fitted sheets.

MrsArthurShappey · 22/11/2018 23:47

Damn, kalde beat me to it while I was wrestling with the iPad taking issue with shitballs

Molakai · 22/11/2018 23:48

kaldefotter beat me to it! Semi fitted. Never knew they existed! But googled top sheet with elastic and this came up.
Learn something new every day!

I appreciate that fitted bottom sheets are elasticated in all four corners and that they are a bottom sheet. I'm after a flat sheet with two elasticated corners at the bottom, as described. Gone through too many flat sheets thanks to a very tall DH who kicks and flails about in his sleep and has literally put his foot through them, which is why I want the sheets I've described. They do exist, I've seen them, just can't remember where. I should have got some when I saw them. Just wondered if anyone here knew where I could get some but seems no one does, which is fine.

It was a lucky google. Quite fancy getting them myself now.

teddypotamus · 22/11/2018 23:58

Feel such an idiot not thinking to google 'semi-fitted' Blush but am happy to have found the correct term and can now order.

Fuck me! They exist! Semi fitted sheets! What a great idea!

chickywoo · 23/11/2018 00:04

Ok so I know this sounds dumb, but I don’t understand what you would do with this sheet? So you use it as a bottom sheet? the bottom corners elasticsted but the top is like a flat sheet - what are the benefits of this compared to a normal fitted sheet or normal flat sheet? Or are you using it as a top sheet?

teddypotamus · 23/11/2018 00:04

They do, and it is Grin Does this make me a MN trendsetter?

teddypotamus · 23/11/2018 00:08

@chickywoo Not dumb. It's a 'top' sheet in that it goes over you. Benefits, for me at least, are no draughts and DH seems to sleep better because his feet are more 'contained' - I don't know if it's because they don't stick out at the foot of the bed (no matter how carefully or firmly I tuck a flat sheet in, he manages to get his feet completely tangled) or because he's not as cold so isn't as restless. But they are great. We had some on our bed on holiday and I thought they were brill then I saw them somewhere here but didn't get them and wish I had, and then of course couldn't remember where I'd seen them.

chickywoo · 23/11/2018 00:12

Oh right - I get it now!
Glad you found them then! I don’t know about setting a trend though I think they’ll be a bit of a divide of those who like their feet tucked in and those who like to be free! Grin

When I was a child, and before we all started using duvets, fitted top sheets were common,. There is more space for feet with a fitted top sheet than a tucked in flat top sheet.

MikeUniformMike · 24/11/2018 14:13

I tie a knot in the bottom two corners of a normal flat sheet. I suspect that the sheet is kingsize on a normal double bed.

Racecardriver · 24/11/2018 14:15

You can easily make it yourself. Take a flat sheet and buy some wide elastic. Cut the elastic into two pieces long enough to make up the difference between a he sheet and the length around the corners. Then stitch the ends to the sheet.
