Should I buy a Dyson?

Just that really, I really want a Dyson vacuum, the cordless type. Are they any good? And which model? I'm looking at either v7 or v8. We have carpet and wood floors.

I ordered one online about an hour ago! I went for the V7. I borrowed a friend’s and it certainly seemed up to the job...time will tell...

Tronkmanton · 21/11/2018 21:57

Buy it! My V8 is fab, I use it everyday.

I love mine. Seriously in a house fire I would rescue it over my husband.

Really don’t rate Dyson at all. Had the ball and also the cordless animal one. We used them for years but recently borrowed my MIL sebo and it’s so much better! Decided to put our dysons in the loft and get a sebo instead.

FitzChivalryFarseer · 21/11/2018 22:07

No. We had one which was brilliant. So when it died after nearly 15 years of loyal service, I bought another. It is crap. I also bought a handheld/stick one. It is also crap.

I love mine. It means I actually vacuum so it doesn't matter that the charge isn't that long as I tend to use it little and often rather than doing one massive vacuuming session. I don't have a large house so it's perfect. I wouldn't recommend if you live in a mansion.

Snoopey · 21/11/2018 22:09

I've got the v7 (as well as the dc07) and it's the best vacuum I've ever had.

TheClitterati · 21/11/2018 22:09

If you have hair don't get a Dyson. Spend half my life getting hair out of the head. Gross. It's Not fit for purpose really.

MorningCuppa · 21/11/2018 22:10

I don't rate dyson, shark are so much better.

iris81 · 21/11/2018 22:11

I've had dysons in the past but don't rate them at all. Now have a shark, much better! Their website lets you pay in instalments

I have a Flexi 6 BTW and although it is an old model it's still for sale some places. I went for this model because it comes with loads of accessories, but is lighter than the newer models and I suffer from RSI a lot so made more sense for me. The main vacuum head is smaller than on newer models (but better for fiddly areas/small house) and the dust collector is also smaller, but that's what makes it light. I also bought this model because I'm a tight arse it's good value

I have the V10 Absolute and absolutely love it! Would highly recommend. Also have a corded compact Dyson that is about 7 years old and still works perfectly.

Theworldisfullofgs · 21/11/2018 22:18

I've got a Dyson. Bought into the hype.
Used to have a miele. It was much better.

Waitingtomove · 21/11/2018 22:24

No, get a shark. Much much better
Had a few dysons over the years, the last one I had was terrible so I switched to a shark. I will never go back to a dyson

VanillaSugary · 21/11/2018 22:26

No. I have to have a shower every time I empty it.

e1y1 · 22/11/2018 02:09

No.

Solidly Sebo house here (so good I have 2)

fatbrows · 22/11/2018 02:12

Not if anyone in your home has long hair. We have to unclog ours too regularly.

Otherwise I love it
