Dyson battery

How often should you replace a battery on a Dyson hand held vacuum ?
Mine and aunts not functioning well so I presume it's battery related.
Charged long enough so should be working.

Just replaced ours - i think it was about 18months old.

Went on Dyson site and wasn't sure whether it was battery or charger so rang helpline. They said battery and offered to order one or a replcement Dyson.

Bought battery from Amazon instead. Sorted.
