My fridge is getting worryingly warm and my freezer getting more and more freezing. It's a Candy frost free one, well out of warranty.

Is this common? Does it mean it's all over? Should I just get rid or does this happen sometimes!! can't find any of the paperwork for it of course! Should I defrost it and see if it makes a difference?

any advice gratefully received!

Try defrosting it first and see if it makes a difference, but sounds to me as if it's on it's way out.
Sorry

This site lets you download instructions.
Any use?

Thanks Macdog! I'll try that!
I think It is all over I just wondered if that's a classic sign of fridge-death.

defrost it

also hoover the coils on the back - the dust can really build up and makes them v inefficient

and check the door seals

so mrs badger, there could still be life in the old dog?

I have to say I have had no trouble with it before and it's about 7 years old.

Many thanks to all the fridgemeisters.

Thanks I'm gonna be brave and defrost.... hope my lovely neighbour has room in her freezer for a couple of things... the ice-cream... well I will be forced to eat it won't I?

Make sure you check behind the back, as MrsBadger suggested - our fridge/freezer got warm (before it died) and we pulled it out to check the coils and it was absolutely COVERED in cat hair!

We'd never even thought to clean the back of the fridge in 5 years and we have a very fluffy cat..I don't know if that was what actually killed the fridge but I'm sure it didn't help.

thanks, I am so so so scared to look back there, honestly I'm a little phobic about the back of the fridge. I want to run and hide under the bed... but it's pretty scary under there too
ARGHHHHHHHHH! Why can't those nasty tv cleaning women come and sort my house out without bringing any cameras thank you very much.
