Just that really... There's three of us (me, husband, 2 year old) At the moment we have a large one on the landing, but I'd really rather it wasn't there!

Do people just have one? Where do you put it?! Tell me oh wise ones

In a corner of the bedroom. It's like looking at kilimanjaro.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/11/2018 17:16

I have 4 Blush

White/Light colour/Dark colour/Black

All in the small bedroom (which doubles as junk room and over winter The Guinea-Pigs Room)

Jfw82 · 11/11/2018 17:16

One in our room for me and dh one for ds (2yo) in his room - his is a pop up one that I take down to washer and fold his stuff in it to take back to his room

silkpyjamasallday · 11/11/2018 17:18

We have one in the bathroom, one in our bedroom and a small basket in 2 year old DDs bedroom. I wouldn't be able to keep on top of it if it was all in one place! I tend to keep knitwear/delicates in the basket in our room rather than chucking them in with the stuff that's fine to go in a quick wash.

PuppyMonkey · 11/11/2018 17:21

Ours are hidden in two cupboards in the bathroom, one for whites and one for colours.

Cynderella · 11/11/2018 19:58

Two in bathroom cupboard. One for whites. Bigger one for everything else. I have a swing bin in back porch for tea towels etc.

dementedpixie · 11/11/2018 20:00

2 in our bedroom (1 for dark colours and 1 for light colours). There is a pop up one in each of the kids bedrooms too

SleepingBooty · 11/11/2018 20:02

3 (darks lights and whites) at the bottom of the wardrobe. I'm quite a messy person and find it's an easy system. The ironing pile however...

martingoresnipplechain · 11/11/2018 20:02

Ours is on the landing, it's quite a wide space so doesn't get in the way there

SweetPeaPods · 11/11/2018 20:05

One in our bedroom and one in the utility. The one in bedroom gets emptied every day or so into the one in utility room. Me, dh and 2dc.

DBN1 · 11/11/2018 20:06

One in the bedroom for towels, whites, bedding, dish cloths and tea towels plus one in the bathroom (where the washing machine is) for our clothes although husband's clothes are usually spread between all the upstairs rooms and the lounge. That's really pissing me off but, another thread maybe? Wink

ArcheryAnnie · 11/11/2018 20:27

It's small, it's transparent, and it's in the hallway just outside our (small) kitchen. If I had a big laundry basket, then stuff would just disappear down the bottom, never to be washed or seen again. This ensures that whenever I have enough for a load, there it is, right in the line of sight. (It can hold about two load's worth, so when I put a load on I just dig around for the right things to wash together.)

It gets kicked into my bedroom if we have company expected and I don't want our dirty kecks on view.

dangerrabbit · 11/11/2018 20:29

In our bedroom, or in a pile next to the washing machine.

fuckitbuckit · 11/11/2018 20:34

DS has a lights/darks double basket in his wardrobe.
We have a 4 basket laundry trolly in our wardrobe. Darks, brights, lights, whites.
A double basket under the stairs. Bedding and towels.

oopslateagain · 11/11/2018 20:34

In our bedroom, on DH's side of the bed so I can lob my knickers at his head every night Grin (he ducks Wink)

ScreamingValenta · 11/11/2018 20:36

One in the bedroom, one in the bathroom. Only two of us, so they're the small, rigid sack kind.

PlatypusPie · 11/11/2018 20:39

Bathroom - big bathroom, was originally bedroom.

anotherneter · 11/11/2018 20:43

In the laundry room but thinking of getting a smaller one to keep in our en-suite bathroom and perhaps one in the family bathroom for the children’s clothes.

MummySharkDoodoododoo · 11/11/2018 20:44

I don't have one. Dirty washing goes straight into the machine and then it goes on when full. With colour catcher. Job done!

Clankboing · 11/11/2018 20:49

Two on the landing. One for darks, one for lights.

Whatififall · 11/11/2018 20:50

In airing cupboard on landing, just outside bathroom.
I love that it’s out of sight. Before we moved it was just in corner of the bedroom and I hated looking at it daily,

BackforGood · 11/11/2018 20:50

There are 5 of us, and bedrooms over 2 floors.
We have one in the main family bathroom. One at other end of a long landing (by dd's room) and one on the 2nd floor landing.
I've found if they are nearish to where people remove their clothes they are MUCH more likely to go in the basket than if not.

HeddaGarbled · 11/11/2018 20:52

Airing cupboard.

NotCitrus · 11/11/2018 21:16

In my bedroom (MrNC has his own laundry bags in his room as he still likes doing his own laundry, which is fine by me!).

I'd like a laundry bin that doubled as a seat with a wooden top to go on the landing, with a mesh bag inside to take downstairs, but all suitable ones seem to be hundreds of pounds. The kids' clothes are getting bigger so the basket gets full faster!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/11/2018 21:49

I've got two Ikea kid's net toy containers - one blue for 40° and one red for 60° next to the washing machine. They contain one load each when they are full.
DS has a folding crate in his room. He does his own washing (yay).
