White company bed linen - cheaper alternative?

Rungirlrunning · 09/11/2018 13:46

We were given some white company bed linen for a wedding gift but it's really threadbare so time to recycle and replace. Unfortunately we don't have the budget for white company but don't want to compromise (too much!) on quality.

I'm hoping you pay a premium for the name and there are in fact plenty of decent alternatives out there that someone can recommend. Anyone?
TIA
Ps we only want white king size so no issue with design or odd sizing

Of course there are. John Lewis cotton are always a pleasure to start with. Must admit I'm surprised to hear that your sheets are threadbare. I always lose interest in bedding long before it gets to that stage.

I hear mixed reviews about The White Company and the mumsnet word is that their quality has declined of late.

Soak & sleep are fab. Check eBay for white company & autograph or Linda - all good. I love bedding.

There's also a posh hotel supply website - I think it's king of linens?

Tkmaxx has fab bedding and some gems in their clearance- look for the highest thread count you can afford....over 300 thread count at least

I always used to buy White Company but I think John Lewis decent thread count bedding is even better. Maybe ask for vouchers for Xmas?

I have recently bought from Dip and Doze, Soak and Sleep and Beaumont - all online.

King of Cotton have a good reputation too.

If you live in a tourist city check out ex hotel linen from a laundry. I've picked up the most amazing high thread count cotton sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers from laundries. It's silky soft and I've paid as little as £6 for a king size duvet cover. You'd sleep in it in a hotel so why not buy it ex hire?

Ooh, very interesting, I'm placemarking unashamedly so I can come back once I've decided on a colour scheme for my room!
