Why don’t my cleaners turn up?

So... when ds was born we decided to get a cleaner once a week to do two hours. We live in a tiny house and asked for the floors to be mopped and hoovered, bathroom, sink and stove cleaned. It’s easily done in about 90min so I give an extra task, like wiping walls or windows that the cleaner can do a bit of if they have time left over.

We signed up with an agency, pay the cleaner £10 and the agency a monthly fee. We’ve had five cleaners in about a year, four of them I’ve had to give up on because they only turned up about two thirds of the time giving last minute excuses the rest of the time. I appreciate that stuff comes up (sickness etc) but not to the extent you only go into work 2 out of 3 days. They never say they want to stop working for me but I end up asking them to stop because they’re too unreliable.

I’m sure what the problem is but I’m thinking it could be:
I seem too laid back
Agency cleaners don’t care
My expectations are too high
I’m sometimes in the house with toddler and baby (but not in same room)

I pick everything off the floor, clear the surfaces and do quick wipe in bathroom before the cleaner comes. Have all equipment neatly stored etc

Any tips on how to get a cleaner that comes? I’ve cancelled our contract with the agency and are trying to find one via word of mouth. How do I go about getting and keeping a reliable cleaner? Any tips? Especially if you’re a cleaner, tell me what I’m doing wrong please!

Cleaner here!! I have keys to most houses but some are in!! Makes no difference to me but may put some people off!
Word of mouth is best for recommendations ime.

Pm if you are near me!
County Durham and surrounding areas on my books!!
If they aren't that local then 2 hours may not be worth it also.

Thank you. I hadn’t thought about two hours not being long enough.

Keys is a tricky one. I’d be happy to give my keys to a cleaner who’d been coming a few months and I trusted but that hasn’t happened yet.

Sadly I’m at the other end of the country otherwise you’d be hearing from me!

Another cleaner here, are you paying £10 for the two hours or £10.00 per hr. The lower going rate around here (Nth Essex) is £10.00 per hr so that could be your problem. Pm if you are near me and want to chat.
