What size pressure cooker?

I am buying a pressure cooker as a Christmas present. I want something simple to use (not loads of bells and whistles) as it is for an elderly person who is not that into gadgets.

They will be making for themselves and another person, perhaps with a bit of leftovers. So I need a medium size/ let's say cooks for 4.

I am confused with sizes. Can you please tell me what Litre/ volume i should go for?

Also whilst you are here, if you can recommend one that works well I would appreciate it. Some seem to be cheap and others over £100!

I don't like pressure cookers myself (DMum uses them and I have memories of food being over cooked , steam shooting out of the valve and Dmum pushing the whole thing under the tap to cool it down enough to open it Shock )

But ....... I do like the look of the Lakeland ones . There's a 3litre and a 5.5litre
Having used DMums (without the pressure , I put the lid on and use it as a big pot) , I'd say go for the larger one . You can layer it up with trivets . And if you want to steam in a pudding basin you need something under it .

The Lakeland one has lots of safety features and two handles not the long handle which is a pain to store and I worry about my DMum knocking it on the stove.

The pot itself can be used for big batches of pasta.

Or --- have you looked at the Pressure King Pro ? Or Instant Pot ?
More functions about the same price wise (though Im not sure if anyone uses all the functions)

Has the person you are buying for ever used a pressure cooker before? They can be a bit intimidating, and heavy to move about.

It is for my dad. He is quite a good cook and I think he has used one before.

I like the look of the Lakeland one. It is a bit expensive (because I am also buying others things for him) but will wait to see if I can get it on Black Friday or Cyber Monday a bit off.
