so...i forgot to get meat out of freezer for sunday fathers day munchies....
popped to asda...grabbed a couple of chicken breasts(skin on) and when i opened them they stank!

They look fine...right colour etc.
i have had meat in past that states on the packet that there may be a smell on opening...

have put in oven...smells DELICIOUS now...just like normal...

however...can i rely on my nose...will we all get food poisoning!?

i find lots of chicken smells now. but it's ok once cooked

fryalot · 17/06/2007 16:16

is it in date?

was it an awful, yucky smell?

Was it slimy when you took it out (icky slimy I mean, not just chicken slimy)?

popsycal · 17/06/2007 16:28

i wouldnt cook it if it stinks

ClutterJunkie · 17/06/2007 16:46

no...a sweet almost oniony smell!!!!!

i did eat some....it tasted fine...but then i 'chickened out' (excuse the pun!) and didn't serve it up with the meal

i did check internet- all said salmonella killed with proper cooking...but if i am the only one ill tomorrow i will know it was bad- cos noone else had it!

a sweet, oniony smell is fine.

Twill be absolutely fine till Tuesday.

If it was off, it would have been disgustingly slimy and would have smelled awful - there would not have been a lot of doubt about it being off.

ah well...all been thrown away now!
(except for the bit i ate!)
