Washing machine banging sounds

Hi there,

Since we moved to the UK ten months ago we've had this washing machine in our rental that makes so much noise during the spin cycle. BANG BANG BANG. There are no shoes in there, btw.

With a baby coming in a few weeks it occurs to us that maybe that can be fixed?

This is a front loading machine that supposedly also dries although the dryer only ever gets the clothes really hot and damp.

Is this all normal and if not, who would we call to get it fixed. Don't want to bother landlord.

Thanks for advice.

Is it unevenly loaded ie baby clothes and jeans would be a difficult load to spin evenly according to an engineer..

can't comment re banging sound (tho sounds like the drum might have become unbalanced, worth having it looked at). Re the dryer only getting things hot and damp.. if it is a condenser dryer, you will have a water reservoir which needs emptying after each use and also need to check that the filters . We have one filter in the door, which needs "defluffing" after every use; and one in the condenser area that needs declogging every now and then. Certainly check for somewhere to empty water from, suspect that's the problem with the dryer not working properly.

It could be the bearings are about to go on it, if thats the case you would need to call out an engineer.

There is a website called ukwhitegoods.co.uk which helps people with appliance problems as it is run by appliance engineers. If you post a message on their forum the guys will advise you, and they are really helpful.
