Washing machine door stuck shut

I'm not having much luck with kitchen appliances at the moment having just bought a new tumble dryer and then the dishwasher packing up yesterday and flooding the kitchen!

Now the washing machine door keeps getting stuck on lock at the end of the cycle. If I put it on another spin and drain it might or might not work, otherwise I'm having to turn it off and wait for a couple of hours. I've opened up the bottom filter and found nothing suggesting a problem - any other tips? It's only 2.5 years old!

I sometimes have to give the door a push after it’s timed out.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 01/11/2018 14:19

Oh that’s annoying. If you look up the manual online it might have a troubleshooting section.

balalalala · 01/11/2018 15:11

Thanks both, no luck so far. The manual just suggests cleaning the filter which I've done! Grrr

There’s a few solutions on u tube. Good luck.

Try googling the make/model and 'door stuck shut' - you might find that lots of other owners have had similar problems and someone might have come up with a simple solution.

Currently lots of googling has drawn a blank for my exact problem, mostly because mine seems to be intermittent! Think I'm actually going to have to call someone out.

What model is it OP?

EdHelpPls · 01/11/2018 20:29

When it happened to me it was because it wasn’t draining properly. I cleaned the filter AND the tube leading to the filter.
There should also be a manual override to open the door - mine a wee lever in same compartment as the filter.
And I no longer just stick colour catchers in - always put them in a mesh bag first!

GimbleInTheWabe · 01/11/2018 20:40

Yes came here to say about the manual lever that some models have.
Have to say though our AEG did this a few weeks ago and never opened again.. it was the motherboard that had broken and in the end we had to buy a whole new machine and wave goodbye to my beautiful white company throw that will be forever trapped inside the drum. We bought a Samsung machine which is a bit too fancy.

Honeyroar · 01/11/2018 20:43

Crikey Grimble, I'd have crowbar' d the door open if it was being thrown away anyway to get the throw out!

balalalala · 01/11/2018 21:09

It's a beko WX842430. @EdHelpPls how did you clean the tube? Is that the one at the front in with the filter?

I too would have ensured the white company throw was coming out!

Honestly.. I did everything I could and broke many tools in the process but nothing was shifting that door! I felt really glum about it until DP said 'we'll have to buy a new one' and then I remembered about the discount code that dropped through my door the other day time to shop!
