Death of a mixer

My Kenwood Chef has given up the ghost. She passed away in action. Just emitted a puff of smoke and an acrid smell. She was passed down to me so I think she was about forty years old. Her main purpose was to knead my bread dough, which she did very capably, and was only called to do this once or twice a week max. We celebrated Christmas together when she helped me make a cake. Other than this she resided in a cupboard while I used other fancy modern equipment for lighter tasks.
The question is, can anyone recommend a replacement model? I don't need something that has all the whistles and bells. I just need something to do the grunt work. Some straight forward piece that won't quit on me after a couple of weeks. I don't want to have to take out a second mortgage but I do believe you get what you pay for.
Any suggestions?
