Sewing Machines?

Just wondering what the best budget sewing machine recommendations are? Nothing too fancy just for simple projects!

Our local college uses these Janome ones

I prefer a top loading bobbin though.

John Lewis's £100 machine is supposed to be ok for basics.

Thinking between £50-£100 but don’t want something that’s going to give up after a month either!

You cant go wrong with a janome they are good steady machines. As are brother machines.I liked and had the brother innovis 10a it was a great little machine but I upgraded to an Husquvarna Emerald 183.

I learnt to sew on an Husquvarna and I just love everything about them they are my favorite brand personally.

oh mine was a 203 not 183

with that budget a would get a second hand. You will get a better machine for you money. (I used to sell sewing machines so know what am talking about vaguely )

Go for the John Lewis £100 one.
I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be Janome ones under the cover.

Or if you have a local sewing shop they may have second hand ones for sale that they'd recommend.

Yes, a local independent sewing machine shop may have some good reconditioned models to suit your budget.

Another vote for Janome here, they're a reliable, easy to thread workhorse.
I've had a few sewing machines over the centuries years; I wouldn't
have another Pfaff if it came free it's useless pile of junk - Husqvana was a good one, I'd recommend those too.

I've seen simply sewing magazine have a free John Lewis sewing machine (colourful ones) when you subscribe.
