Removals!

Hello, just looking for any advice really. My partner and I are moving from London to rural Perthshire in early December, when I'll be almost 8 months pregnant! Possibly a terrible idea but we're committed now... I got a quote for removals and was slightly aghast, but obviously most clever cheap options probably won't work at that point in my pregnancy. Has anyone moved such a distance? Did you use someone good? Do you know of a company that doesn't charge an arm and a leg but is still reliable? Any advice on last minute pregnant house moves in general? I just keep looking around at all our stuff and trying to imagine how it's all going to happen! Thanks in advance.

Get a couple more quotes just to make sure they’re not over-charging. Someone told me that if a removal company doesn’t really want the job they’ll quote something outrageous. However, you do have to accept that a long distance move will be more expensive because it will be more than a one day job with overnight accommodation to pay for.

Thanks, @HeddaGarbled. Yes, I'm definitely getting more quotes. And you're right, I probably have to accept it just is far, therefore expensive. But yes, that's interesting about quoting high if they don't want to do it. Hopefully some other company will come up with something less upsettingly pricey!
