Hive or not hive

Help... it's getting colder and I'm paralysed with indecision. We've lost our heating controller which came with the house and has never worked anyway. So we need a new one. Instinctively was going for just a standard programmable thingy but someone's mentioned Hive... is it worth the extra 100 quid? We don't have a big house. There's quite often someone around at least part of the day and I'll never what to camera link to my house while I'm out . So will it really add anything to my life? I know little about it... I thought it was for super rich people in fancy pads

I bought one about a month ago. After several attempts to get it installed (on line link didn’t work, phone number in the leaflet had changed, new number was an automated service that didn’t offer an installation option, no response to emails or Tweets) I gave up and returned it. If the service was that poor before it was even fitted I wouldn’t want to be reliant on it for heat and hot water.

Horstmann thermostats are much better and they come with a ton of options which is much more affordable. I'd definitely consider giving them ago as they have been around for a while now however they dont sell them directly on their website. Search for a company called 'Abgo' as they seem to stock them.

Hope this helps

I do like mine but I managed to get it on a half price offer with a free Echo Dot, I don't think I would have wanted to pay full price for it. Installation was quite quick but I did order it after Christmas on the last day of the offer after the main rush I guess. The thermostat is much more modern than my old one and more programmable so I am pleased with it. I would only get one on a good offer though, BG sometimes have offers so do Amazon.
