Cigarette smoke

Hi any tips on how to get rid of the smell. The smell seems to only be downstairs so in living and dinning rooms, kitchen seems ok. Due to move into our new house soon and want to be prepared with equipment / mentally for work to be done. Thanks

Clean the carpets if there are any and wash or dry clean the curtains if they are left and you are keeping them. Wash down walls and woodwork with sugar soap. Clean light fittings and shades. Smoke clings to soft furnishings in particular. With the seller's furniture gone you might find it isn't bad - depends whether they occasionally smoke indoors or it's an everyday occurrence.
