What kind of spider is this?!

Today I saw a spider on the ceiling... usually I am not scared of spiders at all and I will happily put it out the window but this one fucking terrified me. I quickly grabbed the hoover and sucked it up and kept the hoover going for another 5 minutes to make sure it actually went up the pipe lol. I took a picture of it! I know, I can't have been that terrified but my God! It's not a brown recluse is it?! I've posted a link as I'm a new member and it says new members cannot immediately upload photos on here: ibb.co/eKFzdp

www.uksafari.com/spiders.htm Warning - contains pictures of spiders.

Nope. That looks like a house spider.

That's just a common house spider. Leave it alone. I love spiders, they're cool.

buckingfrolicks · 11/10/2018 10:36

Give it a name and nice character and it won't be so scary. It's coming in to mate - your house is a love nest, a cool nightclub

It's Jocelyn and she's one hot patootie, and she's primped and cleaned and got ready to pull. You go girl! If you didn't have spiders your house would be buzzing with flies. She's gonna be producing next years super fly catchers. You love her!!

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 11/10/2018 11:30

It's been sucked into the vacuum cleaner. 😢

RIP Jocelyn. Fly killer extrodinaire. ☠

OP, I'm helping a friend sort out his home, and those reading my thread know I'm having a lot to do with spiders. Being kept company and supervised by them, no less. I'm not talking to them though, oh no. I agree with pps that they do a good job and you should just leave them alone. Sadly I see that this is advice for the future.

Barry The Spider God of Love, Son of Barry, and all their harem and offspring, having read over my shoulder what you've done, are heading over to your's on their hairy determined little legs. You are no match for them, even with your murderous hoover. Be afraid, OP, very afraid.

I'm getting sick of spiders in my house! If you look closely at them you will find the web and lots of babies! I hoover them because they are everywhere.
