Dyson cordless hoover question

flugelhorn81 · 10/10/2018 21:07

Sorry, sorry, I know there are plenty of threads about Dyson cordless hoovers but I just have one (or maybe two) specific questions:

  • does the docking station need to be attached to a wall? I know it sounds stupid but I've only ever seen them hanging up and we're currently in a rented place so not sure we can do that.
  • are the Dysons worth the money or is there a better option out there? Also, which model Dyson would you recommend?

Thanks!

No, you can just charge it like a phone, it doesn’t need to ‘dock’.

I have a dyson but I know the shark is highly recommended.

Nope doesn't need to be on the wall. And personally I love dysons, would never get anything else.

I don't dock mine as didn't have anywhere suitable.
I have the v6 and I love it. I wish I had the fluffy head though as the standard one isn't good at automatically sticking up bigger bits... Like the Cheerios that are always on the floor after my boys have had breakfast. Apparently the fluffy head is good for that

Thanks all for the tips! I'm wondering if I should go for the latest most expensive one or get one of the slightly older ones. From what I can tell the main difference is battery life. Any tips?

What is the fluffy head? I have a selection of heads but don’t know if I have the fluffy one.

I can suck up Cheerios tho (and dog biscuits)

Does anyone have the V7 Motor head? That's the model I'm looking at now, it's a bit cheaper than the others.

We have the V10 and it's amazing! The amount is sucks up in just one room is quite shocking!

flugelhorn81 · 14/10/2018 15:09

Ooh I am tempted by the V10 and was wondering if it's worth the extra money. We already have a Miele so this is just for day to day hoovering...

I say this on every cordless dyson thread, but I really hate mine! Waiting to get a shark, the dyson just isn’t as strong suction, and when you put it on ‘max’ it drains the battery so much more quickly. I can barely do 2.5 rooms with one charge, if I’m lucky.

We haven’t got round to putting the docking station on the wall yet so I just charge it at the plug. We have the V10 Absolute and it is the best money I’ve ever spent. I really dislike other Dyson vacuums, but I love this one. We have three hairy pets and live in a working farmhouse, so there is a lot of mess and it works brilliantly. Really recommend it.

theboxofdelights · 14/10/2018 15:11

I bought a V10 Animal about six months ago and it is incredible. I can't compare it to any other cordless vacuum because I haven't had one before.

I get about 45 minutes constant vacuuming on one charge which is good enough for me as I have had enough by then.

V10 is brilliant. We have ours docked on the wall which is the easiest way of doing it but before we got round to it we just plugged it in on the kitchen counter. I have never needed to go above medium setting so can easily do our entire house on a single charge. It makes it easier to do little and often but the first time round our hall the filth it collected took my breath away!
