Clothes with grey marks on

Hi as above some clothes are coming out of the machine with grey streaks on like 2 items out of a load . This happened a out a month ago too and I did 3 90 washes with a cleaner and then vinegar.
It's knocking 4-5 yrs I think
The seal is clean and filter . Has it had it ? It's not worth a service or call out fee
I had less problems using liquid I think and have been using smol pods for maybe 4 months
I've stopped washing at 30 as I think washer dosnt like it lol
Wonder if it dosnt like the pods? I stopped using powder years ago as got bits of powder left in clothes
Any ideas please

Sorry I’m no help but came on to look for answers about the same thing though I was assuming it was from clothes picking up dirt from the seal. My dd’s special T-shirt came out with grey streaks and I rewashd it today and it came out ok but there were streaks on other things instead including another special T-shirt!! But at least they come out. So now I just need to know how to get this sorted.

Are they oily looking streaks - if so this is almost definitely the bearings in which case your washer has had it - on newer machines (say last 10years) the bearings can’t be replaced on their own, it needs a whole new drum assembly, which is just as costly as a new machine.

I don't think it's oil as comes out next wash it's like
Grey sludge

I've cancelled my smol pods for a bit and going to try powder for a bit

I used to get this when my washing machine wasn’t rinsing properly. I now use less powder and find that I don’t get the problem anymore.

This from AEG support seems to agree and has other solutions. www.support.emea.aeg.com/en-uk/Laundry/01_Washing_Machine/Grey_marks_on_laundry_after_washing_in_washing_machine

Mine does this occasionally. The best way I have found to get rid of it is to put 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda in the dispensing drawer and half a cup of white vinegar in the drum then run it on the hottest cycle. This seems to clear up the problem.

Sludge will then most probably be the dirt and grease that has built up in the machine between the inner and outer drum (so on the outside of the metal drum that holds clothing and the inside of the plastic drum that holds the water)

I know you’ve had a bad experience with powder, but any form of liquid based detergent (liquid, gel, pod) can reek havoc on the machine, simply because liquids don’t contain bleaching agents like powders do. So overtime you can get a build up of “guck”.

I know you’ve already done 3 hot washes, but it may need more, especially as only liquids being used.

Run the hot washes again and if you can, add a normal dose of washing powder, if you don’t have any, Vanish is basically same thing (oxy bleach powder) or if not that, a small dose of actual bleach - use the same amount as you would with laundry liquid - about 35ml.

Thanks Im going back to powder for a bit to see if it helps
