I’m going round in circles, washing machine help please

My requirements:

8 or 9kg machine
Not just one programme that is 8kg and the rest all under 5

Option to either do a quick wash AT FULL CAPACITY or a time saver button so a normal FULL load doesn’t have to take a million hours

Doesn’t walk across the floor on spin cycle.

Not too noisy or vibration-ey.

Does your machine fit the bill and if so what is it?

I spent hours and hours looking into machines and had decided on one that seemed perfect but then dp was talking to a friend who works in currys and he said not to get that one but to get the Samsung ecobubble. But I’ve looked at the spec for that and it doesn’t seem to fit my requirements. Also lots of reviews online saying the vibration is really bad or that it won’t spin unless it is 100% level (which in an old house with wonky floors is quite hard to achieve, more so if it moves when spinning as the reviews say it does...)

The quick wash/time saver option doesn’t need to be ridiculously quick but under an hour and a half would be preferred. So many machines only offer a quick wash for loads of 2/3 kg which isn’t what I want.

Please help me!

Are you a member of Which? I found that helpful when choosing a washing machine as you can filter by your requirements. Check the prices before setting your heart on one though, as their 'typical price'can be way out.

I have the Samsung Ecobubble & find it very quiet. It doesn't vibrate and was easy to make level. I love it! Sorry, just wanted to put in a good word for it.☺

nosleepnosense · 01/10/2018 13:40

I got a Bosch in the end and the cycles for mixed loads are fairly decent i.e. not too long

SneakyGremlins · 01/10/2018 13:49

I have a candy 7kg but I assume it comes in bigger sizes too. 59 minute daily cycle I use for a full load.

All programs can be done for a full load.

Makes almost no noise when washing and spin isn't too loud.

Barely any vibration.

Hope this helps!

I don't have anything constructive to add, only that I really enjoyed the use of "going round in circles" to describe your feelings on washing machines Grin

LtGreggs · 01/10/2018 20:37

That was roughly the same as my criteria. I have a Bosch Exxcel 7 VarioPerfect. It's been going over 5 years, on at least one wash a day (regularly more - 4 of us in family, loads of muddy sports kit). I usually use a "mixed load" at 1 hr, but can speed it up to 48 mins. There's also a 15 min quick wash. (And various other programs I hardly ever use.) It has a timer. It doesn't beep for attention when done.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/10/2018 20:37

I have an 8kg Zanussi which I bought in a panic because my other gave up the ghost and it was cheap, but I love it! It has normal cycles and then a quick wash button which cuts whichever cycle you use down by about an hour. Delay timer so I can set it for 6am and hang clothes out when j get up.

It’s pretty quiet, no rattling around thing even on the 1600 spin. I was going to get a Miele but I honestly can’t part with my old cheapy!

This is the model up from mine, but basically the same thing: www.amazon.co.uk/Zanussi-ZWF81443WH-1400rpm-Washing-Machine/dp/B00XJYHXAY/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?ref=plSrch&keywords=zanussi+washing+machine&dpPl=1&dpID=41vSK1Wv7iL&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1538422546&sr=8-9

We got a Samsung ecobubble TODAY! Went on the Which? recommendation. Am now in 'playing with new toy mode'. There's lots of permutations and you can choose number of rinses. I'm not the best for obeying size of load instruction so time will tell on that...and no vibration so far!

Best news is DH seems quite excited about it.He even liked the electronic 'tune' it played when you touch any button. I disabled that pronto.

We have an LG 8 kg washer that we are really happy with.

Prior to this we brought a Samsung eco bubble but it had to go back. The door seal was mouldy when it was delivered and it banged around the space a lot whilst in use, even after repeated levelling.

The installer for the replacement washer said that Samsung machines were not as good as they used to be and that they did have to replace quite a few.

wowfudge · 02/10/2018 06:31

You can get anti vibration mats that go underneath if you can't get the machine properly level by adjusting the feet.

CanYouHearThePeopleSing · 02/10/2018 07:43

I have a Beko that ticks all your boxes. Full load on a 'proper' wash with 1600 spin is 1.33. Quick wash is much less (but think it spins a bit less).

Sonarbe · 02/10/2018 12:47

Thank you all for your responses. Have a few more to look into now Smile

My mum has a zanussi that has been going at least 20 years now, so that’s tempting. I’m not sure things are quite built the same these days though!

Good to hear the eco bubble isn’t all that bad. I was initially looking into that one based on the which reviews but then real life reviews (and the fact it doesn’t seem to have a full load quick wash) put me off.

I currently have a hoover which I love for the actual washing, but it moves around a lot and is so noisy when spinning! Fine in a utility room but not so good in a kitchen/diner/family room.

Love my Samsung eco bubble. Previously had an LG which was also good. Had numerous problems with my Hotpoint they eventually exchanged it after 2 years as every part had been replaced and it still kept breaking. Wasn’t that impressed which my zanussi either.

llangennith · 02/10/2018 17:56

I have a 12yr old LG and will replace it with the equivalent new model when it dies. Most washing machines are fairly quiet when new and get noisier as they age. Compare the decibels.
A lot of the newer models don't have the option of a quick wash and their so-called Eco wash can take two or three hours. No idea why.
On the LG you can vary the temperature and speed on every programme.

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 02/10/2018 18:03

I have a Bosch it's about 5 years old. I will have to look at the model.
It's an 8kg drum all cycles are 8kg and all cycles have a speed button which takes 1 hour. Normal cycles are 2hr 45min.
The speed cycles are supposed to be for smaller loads but I've washed full loads on it and it washes well.
No movement on spin and not very noisy.

dontcallmelen · 02/10/2018 18:06

I have an AEG big load wash & a quick wash feature, you can also add rinses & lessen the time on most of the programme washes, is much quieter than my previous machine & no sign of it walking across the floor.

Jammiebammie · 02/10/2018 18:09

I just bought an ecobubble (10kg) last week, it is definitely quiet and doesn’t vibrate at all.
There is a quick wash and all loads adjust the time depending on the weight inside the drum.
The 15min quick wash was ok for a quick freshen of school uniform etc but I wouldn’t use it for anything else.
I’ve found some of the load options a bit strange if I’m honest, although I haven’t fully played around with it yet - the bedding cycle only lets me put it at 40 and I like my bedding on a 60, but it’s easy enough to use a cotton cycle instead. The eco bubble wash adds an extra 30mins on to any load too.
I’ve just put a full dark load in, cotton 40 and it’s adjusted to 58mins which isn’t bad for a full proper load but my last Hotpoint definitely had more options, the quick wash is quicker on the Samsung but not as efficient imo.

I too thought the OP was stuck inside her washing machine from the thread title.

Soberfutures · 02/10/2018 18:35

ao.com/product/dxoa410c3b-hoover-dynamic-next-washing-machine-black-49139-1.aspx

It's 10kg but has options to do small loads as it self weighs the wash and has 14 30 and 44 min cycles aswell as long full washes. Can also increase again removal.

I love it. Glad i picked this. I had looked at the Samsung too.
