Induction hob broken - I feel like a nana

This morning, I accidentally knocked over a bottle of olive oil while making porridge, and it broke the glass on my induction hob. It still works, but the glass is cracked, chipped at the edges, and makes me want to cry every time I look at it. I feel like such an idiot. (This after my watch strap broke, and my son head-butted my chin so was yelling. Happy Friday everyone!)

Has anyone gone down the route of replacing a hob top - just the glass bit? It's a stand-alone hob, so replacing it is fairly simple, but there's a company quoting me £90 to come and look at it, and I don't know whether replacing just the glass bit would actually save any money.

If anyone's done this, would you let me know roughly how much it saved?

Can't help directly but I was taking to my local home improvements company about something and he said that a man had phoned him in a panic as he'd done the same as you. Not sure about the outcome but do phone around lots of kitchen companies. Do you know who installed the hob?

Sorry, not very helpful. But you're not the first!

My Dp dropped a spice bottle and did excatly the same two days aftet it was installed.
I was pretty pissed off at the time and meant to replace it but I've learned to live with it.

Maybe claim on your house insurance if you have accidental damage?

Yes I would have thought this is netter as an accidental damage claim through your insurance
