How much does it cost to hire a carpet cleaner?

We only have two small rooms that are carpeted but they badly need doing.
Is it going to be worth the money?

Might be able to borrow one from your local supermarket for around £30 - £35 then the shampoo on top, otherwise, work out how often you might be cleaning them and see if it'sworth your while to buy yourselves a good one. We bought one for around £300 last year an its paid for iself many times over by now (we have a 4 year old, a teenager, a dog & cat & a DH who doesn't understand english - particularly "please take your shoes off in the kitchen instead of trailing dirt, gras, etc all through the house"

We rented a carpet cleaner from B&Q a couple of years ago and it cost us, I think, about £30 to hire it for a week or so and it was brilliant. Well worth doing.

We did have a guy to come out and do ours last summer - cost £60 for two rooms, but he did do an excellent job

Only £30 to hire one? Wo I expected it to be much more. I will look into it.
Do you know if a steam cleaner might do the job just aswell? That way I can do all the sofas and mattresses at the same time

Get someone to come in and do it professionally. The results are far better than you get from the ones you hire. We have one I use every fortnight (have 2 small chilodren and 2 cats) and then have it proffesionally done twice a year.

That might be a good idea comeoverneer.
We are hoping to replace them in the near future, but not just yet as other decorating needs to happen first. We are also letting our house out for a while very soon so I want it to be spotless beforehand.

We have bissell cleaner - bought from their website, reconditioned model so only £120 instead of £250 and it comes with 1 year guarentee.

Mind you my carpets were new so it was only my dirt on them I have 2 young children so it is totally worth it for me as it will be continuous cleaning.

I have lent my cleaner to two people and someone else wants it now. I will keep my mouth shut about how good it is in future,
