Toilet Help

Moody123 · 23/09/2018 19:04

Hi all !
I need help! My toilet has gone an awful shade of brown (just below the water line)
Our toilet broke, and I couldn't afford it to be fixed for a few months, so we just used the downstairs one.
No matter what I try I cannot clean it! It's now patchy white and brown, I keep putting full bottles of domestos down but it's not touching it

You need a lime scale remover so either a toilet cleaner with linesxale remover in e.g. Harpic ( it will say on the front) or a bottle of white vinegar .

totallyliterally · 23/09/2018 19:15

Remove the water from the toilet bowl. Use HG limescale remover on it. Pour over the brown areas and leave. If it doesn't just come off then pour the HG limescale remover onto a scourer and wear gloves and work at it.

But try just soaking it first.

Harpsichord Black foaming tablets you put down the loo - leave them overnight

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 23/09/2018 19:17

Fucking autocorrect - Harpic not chuffing harpsichord tablets 🙈

TheChatsPyjamas · 23/09/2018 19:18

A full bottle of kettle descaler, leave overnight then will come off with the toilet brush

Coolaschmoola · 23/09/2018 19:19

Empty the water. Pour in two litres of full fat coke. Leave overnight. Flush.

Moody123 · 26/09/2018 19:34

Thanks guys ! I'll give these a shot...
COKE! Really Hmm

I second the coke a cola, full fat. It is actually scary how good a job it does. (Also brillant on tarnished silver jewellery!) I no longer drink any form after seeing the results on both

Spreadingcudweed · 26/09/2018 20:00

I live abroad and this works brilliantly! But presumably Ecover products available in UK? You need to put a good generous squirt or two in lav overnight for about three or four nights and job done! They also do a lav specific product which presumably works even better but I haven't tried that one. I was quite surprised that they work quite as well as they do tbh and no, I don't own shares or anything ...!

Spreadingcudweed · 26/09/2018 20:00

calcaire = limescale btw!

Spreadingcudweed · 26/09/2018 20:02

Oh sorry - ignore me I'm a numpty it's not an Ecover product!!

PurpleArmy · 26/09/2018 20:04

Harpic plus in the black bottle.

Polkasq · 28/09/2018 10:12

Harpsichord tablets 🤣

WorriesGalore · 30/09/2018 17:01

You need this : Spirits of Salt

Cyclewidow46 · 30/09/2018 21:25

I second the Harpic tablets in the black box.
They are absolute miracle workers!

hmmwhatatodo · 30/09/2018 22:33

HG super powerful toilet cleaner. Comes in a white bottle and the liquid is pink. Bought from Robert Dyas. I tried everything from bleach to the black harpic things (they were quite good) but there was just one patch that wouldn’t shift. Scrubbing just scratched the toilet. HG has been the only totally effective thing but the harpic tablets certainly helped.
