Lightweight vacuum but not a Dyson or Shark?

Our Dyson has just died. Family Flowers only please.

It was the choice of a former cleaner and I hated the bastard thing.

Am looking for a mid-price replacement - the main thing is it needs to be lightweight. Any recommendations?

We have a Dyson upstairs and AEG downstairs. The AEG is so light, it feels like a toy. I prefer it to the Dyson, but it doesn't have a 'crevice' attachment - it just goes over the floors. The lift off bit does have a nozzle for upholstery and stairs, but that's not so good for corners on the floor.

It's good at what it does and runs for 45 mins, so I can do whole of downstairs and the stairs easily, but I wouldn't want it as my only vacuum cleaner.

Thanks. Hadn't heard of AEG in the context of vacuum cleaners. Will have a look.

Our Bosch Athlet Animal is seriously awesome, OP. Had a venerable Miele cylinder before which was very efficient but we have a LOT of steep, narrow stairs in our current house and it always felt so heavy to lug around. It died in the end after DS managed to drop it down one of said flights of stairs.

Got the Athlet after reading reviews on here; bought it at John Lewis where it had £100 off. At the risk of sounding First Worldy trite, it really has transformed the experience of vacuuming - it's something I now rather enjoy whereas before I would allow my inner slattern to prevail. It will do the whole house - 4 floors - on one charge and is just a pleasure to use. I love my Athlet Blush

My mum was trying them out in John Lewis and like the Bosch.

We have Gtechs and like them very much.

Its as ugly as sin, but it does a brilliant job
