Most effective way to keep a house with hard floors clean?

We’ve moved to a house with hard floors throughout.

Some tiled and some hardwood.

What’s the best way to keep them clean / dust free? I feel like they look permanently dirty as you can see everything on them.

I vacuum mine and then for the kitchen/bathroom I use a soapy mop and then a water only mop. Let it dry.
For the laminates, vaccum then floor wet wipes. Dont' use a mop on laminates, the water tends to warp it over time.

We left our Dyson at our old house - I wasn’t sure how well they worked on hard floors. May have to go shopping!

We're planning on a robot vacuum so it will hoover when we're out Smile Eufy [BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim), Super-Thin, 1300Pa Strong Suction, Quiet, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Cleans Hard Floors to Medium-Pile Carpets https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BFP9TNH/ref=cmswwrcppapi_mmNPBbPNDPFXG

A few of my American friends have one and rave about it

I agree on getting a vacuum, it can help save us mums' time and energy. I mean instead of sweeping the floors, we could have just spent that time looking after the kids. Ours is a Roomba, it keeps up with the fur (we have a chow). You might want to take a look at it so you get to have options. I just find it noisy though, you can't definitely let it run when the kids are asleep!

Same we only have laminate and tiles in our house, I’ve been really happy with my cordless dyson animal, but also agree floor wipes are great. And just a lot of hoovering!

I have hardwood floors and a cat, and use a microfibre dust mop. I mop weekly.

Being very boring about shoes-off, I'm afraid. Really makes all the difference. You can keep a twee basket of cheap slippers by the door.
