Best vacuum for long human hair

I am looking to update my vacuum as it is struggling and failing to pick up my long hair. Can any one recommend a make and model that they have found to do this well? I do tend to shed quite a lot! I would like a cordless one if possible.

The only thing I have found to be fantastic at removing hair from carpet is a pair of rubber gloves! Seriously, don a pair of these and, using a circular motion, just work your way over the carpet,. You will be amazed how much hair is actually there. I use them as part of my cleaning routine now - especially where I sit to do my hair. If you are unable to get down on your hands and knees, maybe a rubber broom would work as well?

Miele Cat and Dog vacuum-very good

DD's hair is the reason we don't have carpets.

I second Chickens suggestion though as no vacuum cleaner will ever get it all out of a carpet.

Henry Xtra. Comes with a special turbobrush for vacuuming carpets that picks up hair no problem. Just make sure you clean the brushroll on it every now and then.

I have the VAX Air Pet uptight vacuum cleaner and it does a good job of picking up my hair - a lot of gets wrapped round the brushes but now and then I just unravel it or snip it off with some scissors.

*upright!!

Dyson V6 (a few years old now) does a good job with DD’s hair. At one point Dyson had a tool that long stuff - hair, yarn, thread etc - wouldn’t get wrapped around, but they still don’t seem to have deployed it on the cordless models. Scissors do the job, but I’ve bought a little tool from Amazon that cuts/rips hair away from the roller without having to take it all apart.

What tool is it DontCall? I have tried searching but am obviously not typing the right words in. Is is like a seam ripper? Like this?

Miele cat and dog. I would post a picture of the hair caught in the brushes but it’s Envy

DontCallMeBaby · 17/09/2018 19:37

@kaitlinktm it’s this www.rollareleasa.com

Thanks DontCall. I have added it to my shopping basket!

FabulousTomatoes · 18/09/2018 02:27

I have a Dyson. No idea what model but the head works in the same way as the V6 mentioned above. It’s great at picking up hair! Will use a seam ripper next time though, thanks for tip.

Rubber broom then vacuum. Pointless filling up your vacuum cleaner with hair when you can sweep it up. You can tie your hair back around the house and do your combing or brushing in the bathroom to minimise the hair cleaning.
Rubber brooms are quite cheap in Wilko.

Ooooh @DontCallMeBaby could you please post a link ? That sounds brilliant! 😳

OldSpeclkledHen · 22/09/2018 07:09

@DontCallMeBaby Omg so sorry just seen you already did! 😳 As you were! Thank you x

My cat and dog Miele kind of gathers it up into balls on the floor then I take the head off to suck them up at the end! Gross but effective...
