Where do you put washed items before they get ironed?

I have always used a standard plastic laundry basket. But it's a faff to fit under the stairs and always a pain to take it out/put it back.

There is not much space where to put them and they need to stay under the stairs, where the ironing board/iron is (no option to go in any other cupboard). Would it be wrong to buy a fabric laundry basket just for this purpose? They are normally folded up neatly and fully dry....
It would take less space and as it's fabric it would be easier to squash in....

My clothes go in the wardrobe. Im an iron as a go kind of person.

I hate ironing and the five minutes or so a day I spend on all our ironing is better than having to do it all in a block. I may end up spending more time ironing overall but it just suits me a lot better

Mine is usually in a laundry basket in the sitting room and it looks a mess! Definitely buy storage that fits under the stairs! I would kill for an under-the-stairs cupboard.

In something like this, but it has wheels at the bottom. That way i can wheel ut round the house. m.clasohlson.com/uk/Quote-Laundry-Basket/Pr441704001

On my body. I dont iron.

Redglitter · 10/09/2018 16:19

What's ironing 🤔

cheesefield · 10/09/2018 16:23

I haven't picked up an iron in about 8 years.

Shirts get hung up wet straight into the airing cupboard. Done.

VeryBerrySeptember · 10/09/2018 16:24

Cupboards and wardrobes.

Apileofballyhoo · 10/09/2018 16:26

I don't iron either. It only works if you never ball them up in a basket. I hang straight from the washing machine after a good shake. Fold or hang when they're dry.

missmouse101 · 10/09/2018 16:33

Mine in a large soft open bag with handles behind the sofa, as it’s out of sight and I iron in there!

BackforGood · 10/09/2018 16:35

Hang straight up in the wardrobe.

TheHollowLeggedGoat · 10/09/2018 16:41

I don't iron everything but I do iron school & work shirts and items that would be improved by a quick smooth over with an iron. I don't have a tumble dryer so everything is line-dried and can be a bit crunchy and creased.
T-shirts, nightwear etc go straight back in the wardrobe. Anything that would benefit from ironing I store up in an ottoman, and do it on a Sunday night in front of the telly (the only i time I ever watch it)... 15 shirts (3x5) and a few extra bits takes me 60-90 mins.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I don't iron either...it's a task for the cleaner once a week.
DH only wears shirts and they do need ironing (even the non-iron once). We also use tablecloths and they don't look right if not ironed. I have few shirts/tops that have to be ironed too. So, not a a lot of items, but still they need to be put somewhere while waiting for 'their ironing day' once a week.
I am very minimalist and house is not big, I don't want them to stay anywhere on show for a week. And it does not work for me to hung them in a wardrobe as it's upstairs while the ironing board + iron is downstairs (I don't see the point of taking them from up, and down, and then up again).
Large soft open bag (as also the one in the link) is exactly what I had in mind:). Thanks!

Drawers of the bed in the spare room.

Rebecca36 · 11/09/2018 00:32

I put them in the tumble drier, it smooths out a lot of the creases and things often don't need to be ironed. Or else they go in a big bad and wait until I take them to the ironing shop.

Thinkingallowed85 · 11/09/2018 00:42

This is off topic but... you fold clothes before ironing them?!

I barely fold my clothes let alone iron them. Sadly, we have for. Several weeks all been dressing from the clean linen mountain!

I’m in awe. Please teach me how you get the inclination for this. By the end of the day all my folding notions are abandoned.

RosiesYellowDress · 11/09/2018 00:45

On the ironing board which is a permanent feature of the dining room.

I tumble dry everything it still needs ironing, I don’t overload dryer either as I could put just T-shirt in and it still needs ironing

Singingitoverandoverandover · 11/09/2018 00:49

Wash , dry, shove in everyone’s chest of drawers.
Iron as and when we need stuff. If it backs up, it’s on the ironing board getting the death stare from me for a week
