Slugs

Last night I took a pile of clean laundry upstairs and as I was sorting it a slug fell out EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy
I hate slugs, detest them, they make me want to throw up - give me a big hairy spider any day!
However, what I really want to know is how did it get there, and does it have any slimey little friends???
As far as I know the washing was dried indoors ( DH did it whilst I was at work). I initially thought maybe the slug had come in on the laundry basket which had been outside a few days earlier. However, this morning in the utility room sink I noticed lines, that now I think of it could be slug trails (I had been wondering what DH had done to the sink.)
So, could a slug come up a sink........??? The other possibility is that it arrived in a bag of fruit from a neighbours tree, that I might have left in the sink, although the bag is now in a bowl.
What do you reckon Mumsnetters? I feel ill every time I set foot in the Utility room EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy
(Oh, and the laundry was in a pile next to the sink....)

Eew. Hate slugs too.

Sorry OP I have no answers but I will be following as I have been trying to keep slugs from coming into my house and I have no idea how they're doing it!

Last year she came home and saw some white powder/granules on the kitchen floor, instinct was to put her finger in it and lick it!!!!!
It was salt her dp had put down to kill slugs!!
She was sick in the sink!!
Asked her wtaf she was doing and she said she didn't know!!
Envydef not envy!!

We get slugs in our kitchen floor. I think they come from under the washing machine, so possibly through the hose which takes the water into the drain, or maybe it’s just a bit a bit loose and there’s room for them to squeeze in alongside it.
Hate the bloody things but at least they’re slow so I can catch them. It’s spiders that really make me scream.

On our kitchen floor...

So do we think it could have come up into the sink????
The more I think about it, the more I think hope it came from the bag of fruit.
Honestly, give me a spider any day Smile

I found slug trails in my dining room the other day - it's not even a room with direct access to outside! Then last night I found the dead and dried up culprit, still in the dining room. I don;t know how they get in. A couple of years ago at this time of year I found slug trails in my hallway but I blocked up a few minuscule gaps and it stopped. The dining room one is a total mystery the sneaky, slimy bastard.

I'll watch this with interest

Watching with interest. I've had one traipsing round in my utility for some years. Now there is an adventurous one at church that covers miles each week despite salt scattered across doorways.

We have a slug problem, they come in around the front door and we've tried everything. Recently we had a dog to stay and so we put salt down at night so as not to risk the dog eating them (the dog was shut away from area at night). We caught one bastard slug and didn't see a single one the entire time dog was here. Less than a week after the dog went home it was slug party time again. The little bastards are getting me at it Angry. How the fuck did they know there was a dog here??
