Cleaning very badly tarnished metal

Help! I’ve inherited an old piano and it’s lovely but the metal is very tarnished. Does anyone have any tips on how to clean this? Thanks

You could try that product in the tin (there's blue or red tins , I cannot remember the name but I remember the smell of it ). IIRC , I saw it in Waitrose .
Its an impregnated wadding, non abrasive. Less likely to get onto the wood than a liquid .
