Double-ended baths

Any opinions about double-ended baths (you know, the ones where the taps are in the middle instead of at one end)? I've seen one I like but never had the taps-in-the-middle arrangement before. Do they get in the way if you're sitting upright in the bath and stick in your ribs? Also I have a 4 year old so wonder if there are any safety implications there... thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Never used one but suspect they'll be comfyier for a long soak!

i think it depends on the taps you choose. you can get controls built in to the wall so they're not sticking out into the bath. but i'll never go back to a bath that has the taps on the end!

if they're shaped along the edge which goes along the wall, the sealing strips you get for tiles don't fit . Apart from that I love mine!

Mine is wide, long and deep so unless I anchor myself at one end (either that rubber pillow thing or a non slip mat at the foot end) I have been know to slide all the way from one end to the other

Thanks, everyone! Hmmm, good point about the sealing strips, ShrinkingViolet - I hadn't thought about that.

I opted for a swivel type swan necked mixer tap in mine so I could move it out of the way if necessary.
I find it particularly useful to stop hot water dripping on my knees or dd if she is in with me.
Took some finding though...

they're brill for having two children in at a time though as no-one can squabble about who has to be at the taps end. Only drawback in our house is that DD1 (who takes hours-long baths) can top up the hot water with her knee, so she doesn't get cold sitting up to put more water in - length of baths has doubled since we redid the bathroom.

Oooh, brilliant idea about the 2 kids not squabbling over the tap end (no. 2 is due in September). I can really see how that would be a problem. I like the idea of swivel taps, too. Thanks so much everyone, you've sold me - I'm going to get it then!

I read this as "double ended dildos". I don't know what a psychologist would make of that. The word "baths" is nothing like "dildos".. but my mind just disregarded it and jumped ahead!

ROFL!!!
