Currently have a Tefal GV7095 which was bought 7 years ago, it's been a good iron but it's needing repaired now as sometimes doesn't heat up until you restart it. Found an online service which will repair and service for £65. Includes pick up and drop off.

I think the iron was bought for about £200.

Can't decide whether to go ahead or just draw a line and buy a new one. Are there any recommendations? Cheaper the better and it will be used for formal shirts as well as casual clothes. Don't mind spending a bit more if it means it will last longer, is powerful etc

If you like it repair. We had a tefal one a few irons ago that I binned and to this day I regret it as have never found another one that I like as much. Recently brought the Phillips Perfect Care Elite GC9630/20 (£180 from Amazon) which is great BUT you cant stand the iron you need to put it back on the base to rest it which sucks.

I’d buy a new one. 7 years is pretty good going.
There are always offers on amazon & Argos.

I've checked online and cheapest iron I've found which is the same tech spec as mine is £100. It's a brand I've not heard of either. Otherwise a newer and better model is £200+
