Are memory foam mattresses the way forward now? All I see if adverts for them. Are they all the same?

We put a 3 inch memory foam topper on our mattress and it's lovely. When we replace the whole mattress we'll definitely do memory foam. I think that like everything else there are varying levels of quality.

I have avoided them because wheni looked into it about 5 yeatsa ago( so could all have changed) I found they emit gases for the first year or so that are associated with lots of severe health problems and have even been queried as carcinogenicShock. I’m not usually preachy about it, but as you are still in the thinking about it stage, I thought I’d post.

Can’t do a clicky link, but google is memory foam toxic.

They don’t support my back well enough so I went back to a sprung mattress. Memory foam is hotter too, even with a cotton mattress cover under the sheet. You are sinking into the synthetic foam stuff after all, it always felt too hot to me.

I used to have a mattress with the top layer of memory foam. Really comfy trying it in the shop but never liked sleeping on it, too hot, didn't support my back - I always had backache, got a new, more traditional style one, much better.
They must suit some people but I wouldn't get another one.

I hate my memory foam mattress. I used to have a mattress topper which was lovely. But the actual mattress I can't wait to replace.

We have one which was very comfy but so hot

I have a memory foam mattress. It's awful. I feel like I sink in to it, then find it difficult to move in my sleep.
