Hot soapy water got it out of clothes recently, but it depends what your carpet is made of. If it's pure wool, it'll be much trickier.

Or just found this....

'To get dried slime out of carpet, start by scraping and chipping away as much of the slime as possible with a butter knife or old credit card. Then, run a vacuum over the area to suck up some of the slime, and apply goo remover, WD-40, rubbing alcohol, vinegar, or citrus solvent all over the area'

Thank you - off to find the wd-40

Vinegar breaks the bonds in most slime, and if you have a brushable carpet then it apply vinegar and comb it out. If you have the loop type it could be difficult!
I found this out when ds put it in his hair ( he was only small) and used it most recently to get it out of the carpet! My dd is obsessed with the stuff at the minute.
