Vacuum cleaners - Sebo or Miele

Pineapples1 · 19/08/2018 19:38

Our 8 year old Dyson has given up the ghost and I'm after a new vacuum cleaner. All floors are laminate or wooden floorboards (bar the staircase which is carpetted).

Any model recommendations? Happy with cylinder or upright. Browsed and noted that Sebo and Miele come recommended, but the threads were quite old.

Happy to spend around 300.

I love my miele, have had it for years. Once we used it with no bag by mistake and had to Havre it repaired; their customer service / repair service is very good. Never had a sebo so can't comment on that

It depends on your house. What are your floor types?
Sebo X series uprights tend to be better for mostly carpets
Miele and Sebo standard cylinders tend to be better for mostly hard floors
Sebo Pet cylinders, Miele Cat & Dog cylinders and Sebo Felix uprights are all good if you have a mixture of carpets and hard floors.

The difference is the brushroll. The pet/cat & dog cylinders come with specialist turbo brushes with rotating brushes for cleaning carpets and suction only floor tools for hard floors. The Felix upright has a brushroll but this can be switched off for hard floors.

The Sebo X series brushroll doesn’t switch off so not very good for hard floors as it tends to scatter bits and can scratch floors

Agree about the sebo x scattering. The felix is pretty cute, as cleaners go and I'm tempted by one for my kitchen.

As most of the floors are hard will look at a cylinder non pet model. Thanks!

Sebo. They are extremely reliable and very powerful as well!

Had my Sebo for years. It is the best vacuum I have ever had and that includes a Miele. I have an upright and use it in on hardbfloors all the time as well as mats. There is no scattering. Changing the bag is really easy and clean. Bags last ages and are issued with lids which snap on so no dust when changing.
