Ottoman beds

I am considering buying a superking size ottoman bed. But I worry about the mechanism to lift the bed - will it be easy to use, especially considering it will be lifting a heavy super king mattress? Also, do they last? I imagine if the mechanism breaks then that's it.

Do let me know if there's something I need to consider and if you recommend any articular brands. Thanks!

We’ve got double ottomans, they’re very easy to lift up, no problem with mattress and all the bedding etc.

I love them as they have masses of storage space.

I have a king from loaf. I love it dearly! I can lift it easily (even when heavily pregnant- lift from the knees then though...).

I have one (from Dreams) and can lift it fine - I'm disabled but it has a pneumatic lifting thingy so it's easy, even the kids can do it. Just don't keep anything essential in there in case it does break and I need to wait for someone else to open it! Grin

(mine is a regular king size)

I have s king size ottoman and it's a little hard to get it pulled up at first but once it's 'released' it swings up easily. Don't know if they're all like this though as I've only had one of them.

my sister has one from dreams..very easy to lift and has tonnes of storage underneath. hers is a double but i imagine the superking will be the same.

I have 2 double storage beds and they are brilliant. They are easy to lift because they have a ‘hydraulic piston’ in the lift mechanisms, so you’re not lifting the weight, just getting the movement started. Much much better than under bed drawers

Interesting thread as I’m looking into this myself. I tried one out in M & S - terrible reviews mind. It was quite easy to lift up. I found it a bit more tricky to push back down just because I’m 5'4”.

FYI, I’m looking at this one here as reviews and price excellent. www.sueno.co.uk/divan-bed-bases/ottoman-beds/twix-ottoman-bed/
