How do I make my coffee cup smell clean?

Just that, really.
My reusable coffee cup always smells a bit manky, I bought a new one, I've only had it a week and it smells stale already. I wash with warm water and washing up liquid every day.

Maybe try Milton (sterilising fluid) like would use on baby bottles?

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 15/08/2018 20:03

I used to use denture cleaning tablets in mine. Did the trick! They're probably very similar to Milton tablets though.

CMOTDibbler · 15/08/2018 20:12

I give mine a soak with a Milton tablet every so often, but mostly a good scrub with hot water and washing up liquid (not a swoosh, a proper brush) and then I fill it up with boiling water and leave it for half an hour every day

ourkidmolly · 15/08/2018 20:14

Eh? What’s it made from? Mine is fine.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 15/08/2018 20:15

Denture tablets here too
Also cleans my mugs so they look like new

Are you storing it with the lid on? You need to let them air out between uses.

YY to soaking in boiling water with washing up liquid for a while, and/or a squirt of Milton with cold water for 15 mins

IStillDrinkCava · 15/08/2018 20:45

Don't use Milton on metal though

simonisnotme · 19/08/2018 19:47

drop of bleach fill with water and soak overnight
i soak my tea mug in it, gets the stain of strong tea out a treat
just rinse thoroughly

I use napisan but I'm sure it's all the same! I soak it for about an hour and it gets all the stains off. I once put the lid in the dishwasher and I swear it smelled of old socks for ages after.

Milton worked- thanks all!

Bicarbonate of soda does the trick too with some lemon juice x
