How to clean a rug

Ive tried vanish carpet mousse, cheap carpet mousse, white vinegar and hoovering everyday. Oh and getting the dogs haircut but it still looks like this
The lines are where products been sprayed on despite scrubbing it in well

Anyone?

Washing up liquid? I know someone who cleans their carpet with it, don't quote me though because I've never done it xxx

What is it made of. I'd stick it in the washing machine and hope for the best.
If it's wool I'd hand wash it in the bath in warm water with stardrops in it.
Line dry or dry flat.

I agree with Mike, the original Stardrops is amazing at upholstery cleaning and doesn't seem to leave any residue which just attracts more dirt in future like Vanish and the like IMO.

I did the carpet on my stairs a while back and they still look great and feel really soft.

What are stardrops?

Has anyone used a bissell little greene carpet cleaner?

Stardrops is a cleaning liquid that you buy in places like Savers or pounshops. It's orange. You can use it for washing, washing up, cleaning etc.
Unlike washing powder it doesn't leave a residue when you wash floors.

If you have a garden then wash it outside. You can really get it sudsy - star drops are good, or you can’t use a laundry liquid - and you can leave the detergent to to work for a while. Then rinse thoroughly with the garden hose, or even better with a power washer. Easiest way to clean rugs ime. Only issue is if you have a hose pipe ban where you are.
