bathroom renovation - how much to budget?

We need to put an offer in quickly on a property and are doing some last-minute number crunching. Could anyone help me out with some ballpark numbers on how much it would cost to renovate a bathroom? It's a small-ish bathroom, toilet and sink could probably stay as is, we would want to replace the tub with a walk-in shower and redo the tiling. Any estimates or even guess-timates welcome. The house is in North London. (And if you can recommend someone to do the work I will worship you forever.)

Were having a bathroom done at moment,
Bought all bath /shower/tiles etc off ebay, so much cheaper .

Tiler costing £250 for labour for walls
and £100 for tiling floor
Plumber is working on day work - about £20ph - so far done 8 hours and quite basic plumbing installed for toilet and new shower -

Cant give you an overall cost but definately recommend ebay.

We just bought our bath suite from B&Q, Cheapest suite possible (but plain white, not the shell shaped one!) and it cost £189 for bath, sink, toilet! I think they do the bits seperately but it's not on the website, you have to go in!

ok.... i have been to B&G TODAY and ordered my whole entire bathroom!

I have a small bathroom and can only have a compact bath which limits my choice some what...

anyway i want a NICE bathroom but not overly expensive... cheep and cheerful but looks nice...

TODAY from B&Q i have got EVERYTHING including:
whole bathroom suite (just a white one)
nice enough mixer shower (mid price, not too cheep
vinyl for the floor (practical)
spot lights for ceiling (obviosuly)
extractor fan
light switches.
new radiator and pipes and stuff to plumb it in.
Tiles (and grout / adheasive etc)
bathroom paint (in pink )

also my bathroom is currently a loo and a bath / sink room and im having it bashed through, then one door filled in so all the stuff to 'build' a new wall in the door whole etc.

and a new door and handle and lock etc

  • all the little bits n bobs like sealant and random little things that my friend new he would need!

Anyway i have got the WHOLE LOT for less than £700 (we were in B&Q for 3.5 HOURS though )

but until monday 4th june its 20% of bathroom week at B&Q and they accidently took 20% of twice off of my bathroom!

also my friend will be doing thw work and he reckons to do it all

(including bashing down the wall, filling up the door, new ceiling, making a whole in exterior wall for extractor fan, moving radiotor, plumbing for new (over bath) shower etc etc will take 7 - 9 working days

(and he works 10 hours days and charges me £70 per day, as hes my best friends hubby!)
